Introduction

Glandular Guillotine Isolator

Fouress Engineering is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of flue gas shut-off and modulating dampers. Building upon the 50 + years of experience accumulated, Fouress has acquired a competitive edge by introducing a number of innovations, which secured us the encouragement and goodwill of our customers. Our dampers are in service in Power plants, FGD-plants, Combined cycle Power Plants, Garbage incinerating plants/Waste to Power Plants, Cement – and Steel plants, as well as other industrial plants all over the world.
Fouress offers Guillotine Dampers with metallic sealing system incorporated on the frame or on the blade. There are three distinct design options which are suitable for negative and positive pressures.

 Glandular Guillotine Isolator.
Unenclosed Guillotine Isolator.
Enclosed Guillotine Isolator.

Features

Glandular Guillotine Isolator Features:

FOURESS Glandular Guillotine Isolators consist of a steel plate sliding between the proven single / double bulb sealing system. The blade, in the closed position, extends beyond the seals on all four sides into atmosphere. Glandular Guillotine Isolators ensures 100% gas-tight across the blade, without the aid of purge air for complete safe isolation of the duct.
Glandular Guillotines are particularly suitable for dusty conditions because the blade has a self cleaning action, as its thin section slices through any dust build up. Besides, the seals are totally protected as the area of the blade in contact with the sealing elements is never exposed to the gas-stream in both open and close condition. These Glandular Guillotine isolators are in operation for over twenty years, in circumstances where the dust level exceeds 1500 mm.
As the seals are located on the periphery of the valve frame they can be inspected with the plant on-load. In the unlikely event seals should need replacement, this is done from outside and access is not required to the duct
Suitable for conditions where the normal temperature and differential pressures do not exceed 350 Deg C and -500 mm Water Column to +100 mm Water Column. For the higher temperature, special provision can be made in the design.
Glandular Guillotines are suitable for installation in horizontal , vertical and inclined ducts. The blades can be arranged to enter the duct from above (top entry) , from the side or at an inclined angle.
The blade is moved by means of a Single Screw drive or a double screw drive. The screws, are within protective gaiters to prevent dust ingress, and are powered by a motor directly or through reduction gearboxes. The main drive member is at approximately duct level..
The drive system is normally electrically powered but can alternatively driven manual gearbox / winch operation.
