Multi Louvre Dampers

Dampers and louvers control the flow of air in a process system or enclosed area. Dampers are usually actuated or manually adjustable for flow control. They can modulate gas or air flow, divert flow into alternative systems, or isolate a process for inspection and repair.

Louver Dampers are a type of damper consisting of several blades mounted parallel across a duct. They are lightweight and compact, offering low leakage to the outside environment. However, long thin blades may promote flutter, sealing issues in dirty applications, and higher pressure drop due to flow obstruction. Louvers are often fixed for a constant flow rate.

Fouress Multi Louvre Dampers are designed to provide a guaranteed sealing efficiency of 99.9% or better across the cross-sectional area. They incorporate flexible metallic sealing systems made of austenitic stainless steel or high nickel alloys. Double row seals can also be provided to ensure 100% leak tightness with purge air.

Units can be supplied for both circular and rectangular ducts of all sizes for temperatures and differential pressures up to and exceeding 650°C and 2000 mm H₂O respectively.

These highly engineered dampers are designed to withstand rated plant production loads while operating efficiently under partial load conditions. Designs are developed based on critical operational parameters such as Gas Pressure, Gas Temperature, and regulation requirements.

Multi Louvre Dampers – Features

  • Designed to provide sealing efficiency of 99.9% or better on cross-sectional area with single row of seal and 100% with double row seal using external purge air.
  • Incorporates flexible metallic leaf spring type sealing systems made of austenitic stainless steel or high nickel alloys.
  • Available for square, rectangular, or circular cross-section ducts.
  • Designed to withstand flue gases up to 650°C temperature and 2000 mm WC pressure.
  • Suitable for installation in horizontal or vertical ducts.
  • Equipped with high temperature self-aligning gunmetal outboard bearings accessible from outside for maintenance.
  • Can be supplied with parallel or opposed action blades.
  • Available with loss motion linkage — a special sliding linkage connecting the shafts to nullify differential expansion between frame and blade.
  • Operation options include Electric, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, or Manual.
  • Entire operating gear is located outside the duct and does not come in contact with flue gases.
  • Critical components such as actuators, gearboxes, bearings, and linkages are accessible for inspection and servicing from outside at all times.
